"It's my senior year in high school and I have been working on a thesis paper about the diamond industry. Initially, my interest and my thesis were focused on how DeBeers and A.W. Ayers joined forces and succeeded in transforming peoples' perception of the diamond through skillful marketing.

"I came upon Penny Hess' All Diamonds are Blood Diamonds: The truth about the diamond trade during my research. After days of studying the diamond industry, her work revealed break-through information to me about the tragic origins of the diamond industry and the suffering of those whose backs have been broken to fulfill the greedy wallets of the industry's businessmen, like Cecil Rhodes and the Oppenheimers. At first, I was only skimming different literary works in search of further information on Rhodes and the industry's origin. However, I read Hess' entire essay and then inspired, I continued onto your website.

"I'm attending college this fall, and before today I have considered various majors yet have remained undecided. With what I have learned today about the African peoples' devastating past and the movements working towards the liberation of Africa, I believe my life's purpose has finally revealed itself. Although I'm still unsure of what major I'm going to pursue, an internal desire to work towards Africa's liberation has sparked and I have decided on the foundation of my secondary education. It will be devoted to leadership skills, public speaking and some way to direct my career on a path that will contribute to the movement."
