Thanks to the Uhuru Market Breakfast volunteers
Thanks to Mike, Maureen, Wendy and Peter for your ongoing commitments – making our booth shine and smell great with the early morning wafts of grilled onion, thyme and potatoes.
To Ron and Redbeard for hustling to make sure our shops and packs are on time and thorough – each time out.
And especially to Mika and Jade for extending your volunteer hours, jumping right in without hesitation and making everything, and I seriously mean everything run extremely efficient and fabulous.
It was great to be back at the market where the Uhuru Movement has built a lasting relationship with the community, and where people can support the struggle of African people for justice and liberation, and in particular support the African-led programs of the Uhuru Movement. This was evident by the high number of breakfasts sold, the interest in our literature and the folks who signed up to join us on future projects. Uhuru!
As a reminder we are still looking for volunteers to staff our booth at Reggae Rising, July 31 and August 1 , 2, 3 and 4.
This is Uhuru Foods Oakland’s largest single event fundraiser and provides a concrete way for people to support the struggle of African people to regain control of Africa for the benefit of African people everywhere at a music festival based on some of the best of Africa’s culture.
If you’re interested in Uhuru and the potential for a political impact you should join us up there.
Call 510 759 8154 or send email to oakland@uhurufoods.org to volunteer.
