The Uhuru Solidarity Movement (USM) is an activist organization that works under the leadership of the African-led Uhuru Movement. We organize solidarity and raise resources for the worldwide struggle of African people for control over their land, communities and resources.
Today profound changes are occurring in the world and imperialism in in deep crisis. African people and the people of Palestine, Afghanistan, Iraq, Venezuela, Bolivia and indigenous peoples everywhere are building a new and just world. They are struggling for liberation—to end the system of slaves and slave masters once and for all.
We understand that the only sustainable future for this planet and for all humanity lies in genuine solidarity with self-determination for African and all oppressed peoples, not in the continuation of imperialist war, plunder & hoarding scarce resources at the expense of others.
USM stands for solidarity with the movement for justice, reparations and liberation for African working people who are transforming their conditions and the world – not charity which leaves the exploitative colonial relationship intact.
Take a stand against the war on the African community in the U.S.
The Uhuru Movement works to end the violence imposed on African people in the U.S. There are local and national campaigns taking on this issue and U.S. war on African people through the policies of police containment and massive imprisonment.
Stand for Africa’s resources for Africans – those at home and those abroad
In the same tradition of the Marcus Garvey Movement, the Uhuru Movement leads the struggle for the unification and liberation of Africa and believes that African people have a right to control the resources – the gold, diamonds, oil and mineral wealth of Africa.
Sustainability through Red, Black and Green!
The Uhuru Movement is developing sustainable electrification programs using solar energy and water systems utilizing rainwater harvesting from Sierra Leone, through the All African People’s Development and Empowerment Project, to St. Petersburg, Florida, through the Uhuru House Development Campaign. These are programs led by and for African people and connected to the struggle of African people to unite worldwide.
